French Polynesia
Swimming with the humpback whales is what brought us to Moorea! It was more incredible than I even imagined and such a fulfilling experience. The rest of the Island did not disappoint. I’m so grateful for the time that we had to enjoy the beauty and peace that French Polynesia has to offer!
Tips and Recommendations: (affiliate links listed below)
- Corallina tours for the humpback whale tour
- Many excursions offer transportation to and from your base location.
- Google maps was helpful in finding tucked away food stops. Places close early in French Polynesia.
- We’d probably just catch a connecting flight from Papeete to Moorea next time and then rent a car, scooter/moped from there. (The ferry was definitely an interesting experience with a car and a bit pricier than anticipated).
- United Airlines offers reasonable direct flights from San Francisco to Papeete
- Bring your own bag to grocery stores.
- Eat all the pastries you can find!
- Three Pines Trail: From Belvedere lookout take the left trail and then the next 2 rights. Bring bug spray and enjoy the swing.
- Bring a Gopro and gear so you can relive your amazing encounters with the whales, stingrays, blacktip reef sharks, spotted rays, turtles and so many fish! https://amzn.to/3Co7XLc
